A great idea is just that - an idea. A team gives it wings. Just as no person is an island, a company needs a strong squad to transform an idea into reality. It takes strategic finesse to build your team - from timing to the right hires, knowing when to outsource and when to hire in house. Grow too slow and you may not get traction. Grow too fast and you may have cash flow issues or make detrimental and all-too-common hiring mistakes. And a team doesn’t consist of only employees - it’s vital to think through your Board of Advisors and Directors. About the Panelists:

Amy Bevilacqua is the Managing Partner of Green Street Impact Partners, a growth equity fund making impact investments in education technology. Amy’s career includes over 30 years leading education companies including running and selling a portfolio company for the private equity firm KKR. Amy is a former adjunct faculty member at Penn GSE and a graduate of Carleton College and the Yale School of Management.

Liz Doerr is a Co-Founder and Partner of Sandbox, where she provides strategic CFO and capital raise support to the company’s clients. Prior to starting Sandbox, she worked for a family office turned Series A venture fund where she helped manage the organization’s $55M angel portfolio and $33M fund. She left the fund to be the CFO for one of its portfolio companies and from there began to conceptualize the idea to start a consulting firm specifically catered toward supporting venture backed and scaling companies. When she’s not running Sandbox, she and her husband keep busy chasing their two young children around Richmond.

Stephanie Bauer Marshall, founder of M3 Advisors, is an experienced business leader with multimillion-dollar successes in the commercial sector. She has previously held executive positions at both large corporations and emerging companies, including Verizon, Ford Motor Company, Merchant Link (acquired by JP Morgan Chase/Paymentech), and Signal Frame (acquired by PriceWaterhouseCoopers). A passionate advocate of female entrepreneurship and innovation, Stephanie is a co-founder and the current Board President of Citrine, a limited partner in Portfolia and the W Fund, and an avid angel investor in companies with diverse teams.

Lisa Rosenthal is the CEO and co-founder of Mayvin - an almost $100M technical and knowledge-based services firm. Through her focus on innovation in corporate culture and strategic leadership, Mayvin has achieved significant growth by penetrating markets through a diversified client base CONUS and OCONUS supporting the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, and Justice. Prior to starting Mayvin, she provided analytic, management, and operations support to DoD, DoE, and the Intelligence Community. In her free time, she also co-runs an Angel Fund, LeVel Up Ventures, with her business partner (Victor Pirowski).
